Cut In Half
Cut in half, you stopped eating for a while. Simply forgot. The air was dead with whole families of fruit flies inhaled at once. Your own skin made a lonely noise.
At the back of the bus later staring at your hands. What were these for now? Well, that’s it then, you think. That’s the end of being a person. And the day drives on into weeks anyway.
One morning you eat half a pear standing over the sink. The seeds on the slice make a sad dead face that stares back at you. The not crying at the sunny window. That's not not something. Some words on paper about it.
Just how did you stay on anyway? You cannot imagine. But look here's you pulling down handfuls of life from the trees again. The rotting flesh under your shoes is smelling sweet as you reach up.

Finally back to clay play today!
Trio of sleeping pears. I finally had time this afternoon to stop by the clay studio. It feels like so long, although it’s really only been two weeks tops. I had a few pieces ready to glaze, including the crosses for my religious education students. After glazing I did some figure sculpture practice and then used the clay to make a few sleepy pears.
